Armenia - We Are Still Machines

Artist: Armenia
Title: We Are Still Machines
Keywords: alternative amir mofrat electronic iran dance electronic music electronica kamancheh Genoa

The hit by Armenia "Like A Dervish" might be still in your head, forever fresh like a just caught fish of special electro psychedelic pop it simply never seems to wiggle its recognizable happy tail. But hey! The producer just dropped an entire studio album and trust me this pleasant tune is included (twice!) so this might be enough reason to catch it & enjoy. Let me walk you through it cause that's what we normally do around here...
At first I felt like being beamed back to the time in which the boys of Kraftwerk had been kings of the world, a period in which robots and their sounds still spoke to the imagination & modern music was more old school than the nowadays. This "we are the enemies" is like the "we are the robots" of the future, taking the best parts of the retro perspectives, cleaned it all up and brought it back to life again!
For the progressional track named "Like a dervish" I had already penned up a whole essay about, fill in the search option and you will find it. Let me tell you in a very short version of a review: this stuff is good! But after this it's time for "impressions", a totally different kind of tune, less concrete and to the point, more shimmering like some kind of robotic dinosaur that needed a soundtrack to place its flat paws along. Step by step this electric track walks and when it's done it's time for a bunch of numbers. These numbers are getting repeated so we can try to count along & enjoy them with some slushy lasers, some construction work on the backdrop and a bass. It's not like the pocket calculator song of Kraftwerk "catchy" but more like a minimal countdown that might be more of a filler than a killer. Nonetheless I found it fairly enjoyable.
As expected after a count down the real shit will happen, and with this track named "Balance" this pretty much hit that euphoric highlight in its agenda. It comes with some kind of thematic themed melody, it comes with the sound of wind and a industrial sounding science fictional rhythm and a robotic female voice to keep the atmospheres in higher atmospheres. It's utterly mysterious, like a startrek series in which the Borg had taken over the main leading roles of the enterprise and its crew members & all is a bit more dark & robotic. Everything is getting reassembled, the whole show gets a make over and it feels much more creepy than comical.
A more upbeat moment on the album comes with the arrival of "3days", one in which a electric rhythm gives reason for shiny boots to hop on and off the floor and robot impersonators could do their stiff dance moves. More special and magically interesting is all that is happening within the "engage me (ballet)" track. It's a combo of a robo-bounce hitting a slow bong with classical cultural references. Not something that seem to come from outer space or a robotic world but something more Armenian, with an old school violin and even a moan-singing man that seems to be completely into some kind of trance... yep, pretty damn interesting!
It comes as a real delight when the song with its cultural melody gets a full on electronic return, with bubbling baselines and a fine electropop groove that is so cool that even the moan-singer seems to be at home in!
The album ends with the (as promised!) recognizable hit, loved by yours truly and probably by others like yourself. Of course it's "Like a dervish" taking the listener for the last time to a strange outer space in a experimental psychedelic pop way... it's a blessing to end upon this high melodic notes, there is no doubt that even though the fair amount of other tracks on this album; it's still the best tune of Armenia!

ARMENIA - Electronic Live Set and Visual

Armenia, experimental electronic musician, so says about himself:
"As above so below. I realized: I'm an infiltrate in the world of machines and electronic music. Basic a subversive. I go towards man and everything is adjusted for this purpose in various ways and paths. I install a human virus and I go to the result. Then the machines, both software and hardware, begin to bend, to heat up and become alive. Sometimes it's surprising. Alchemical operation in my sight. The Wise commands. In the background the Child and the Doomsayer."
After traveling with the "IO È" show together with Kseij Dance Company, returning from Budapest, Armenia returns to Commenda in Genoa with his live accompanied by visuals. He brings the new restless studio album, WE ARE STILL MACHINES, preceded during spring by LIKE A DERVISH and published on Bandcamp (https://armeniamusic.bandcamp.com/album/we-are-still-machines). "Our true conscience can be, and in fact it's almost always, completely absent from all that we do, think, want and imagine ..."
In "ESPLORAZIONI" by DUPLEX RIDE, Armenia also pays tribute to Georges Ivanovič Gurdjieff, using frames of "Meetings with Remarkable Men", a movie released in 1979 written and directed by Peter Brook, taken from Gurdjieff's novel by the same name.

WE ARE STILL MACHINES

Our true conscience can be, and in fact it's almost always, completely absent from all that we do, think, want and imagine...
WE ARE STILL MACHINES Album - September 2017
My new studio album, the second of my new artistic cycle, finally lands on Bandcamp, uncomfortable, restless and faceted. Man's true awareness, almost never fully developed and, at the same time, the condemnation to depend on his mechanical nature and lack of will, are at the center of musical and poetic speech of WE ARE STILL MACHINES that tells, through the codes of electronic music that belong to me, the final time of deception, malleability and modern weakness: where we are waiting for a savior who lift us from effort and suffering and hope for the hyper-technological future that will actually fall asleep us more and more, following a non-development line, even through artificial intelligence, making man increasingly alien from his hidden center. Men and women who will have to, or already have to, appear balanced, integrated or intimidated by fear, but above all to be dependent on macro or micro needs, sufficient to themselves or to a small group, influenced by a personal, narcissistic, narrow home-based center of gravity.
You should preferably listen to the album's nine tracks, including two each ones lasting more than 14 minutes, all of a breath, in order to sense an invisible and strange overall effect I want think it could paradoxically reposition, even for a moment, the listener-man in his center.
Because the real question, however uncomfortable and buried, will always resound alive and identical in each of us: who I am?
In "Engage Me" kamancheh is played by Amir Mofrat, Iranian musician from Arak, to whom my biggest and sincere thanks goes. The kamancheh is an Iranian bowed instrument, used also in Azerbaijani, Turkish and Kurdish music and related to the rebab, its historical ancestor and also to the Byzantine lyra, the precursor of the European violin family.

Armata di nanotecnologia all'avanguardia l'intelligenza artificiale risolverà tutti i problemi del mondo. Compare/share/upgrade/upgrade. Compare/compare/upgrade. When nanobiotechnology will be firmly implanted in us will be easy to upgrade or downgrade anyone and anything anyway.

Armenia - Like a Dervish

Title: Like a Dervish
Keywords: alternative electronic dance electro electronic music electronica Genoa

Dervishes, pay attention! As this "like a Dervish" tune is probably high up your alley! A electronic track that feels like it would suit mechanic dancers and proud Dervishes at the same time, clearly being a self celebrating Dervish tune in which a Dervish could truly identify with.
With a steady electric beat and a organic sounding session of orgasmic synthesizer sounds it truly sets the blitz. Together with a peculiar futuristic voice that follows on to form a stretched out alien pop structure, this "dervish" tune goes in like a futuristic dance track that moves up and down with robotic precision.
It might be difficult to rightfully describe this tune, but let's say that this track is like a Dervish. "The Dervish focus is on the universal values of love and service, deserting the illusions of ego to reach God." A thing that oddly gets there next-level style within this anthem.
The single comes in two versions, one the straightforward one that I could imagine being broadcasted through outer space and beyond among dervishes & the second mix to be the more rare sounding mix that comes in nicely fellable audio waves.

NEW Digital 45 on BANDCAMP! LIKE A DERVISH

EN
"Like a Dervish" is my killer Digital 45 of the year on Bandcamp. It anticipates the release of the album "We Are Still Machines" in 2017.
With "Like A Dervish" I wanted to experiment with my voice, creating something intense and shareable, very close to the song format. The ambience is strange, mysterious, with unexpected openings toward the light. Rhythm doesn't give breath and the whole comes close to something that could be defined as "alternative dance".
The text (which mentions the imaginary character Slender Man, the so-called "boogeyman") says:

I'm not your Slender Man
I live in a broken day
I'm not your Slender Man

I eat like a dervish
I drink like a dervish
I think like a dervish
And I live like a dervish
Like a dervish

I arranged the song in two versions. The second is named "Waving". It sways. Like true dervishes, of course. :-))

IT
"Like A Dervish" è il mio singolo killer dell'anno su Bandcamp. Anticipa l'uscita dell'album "We Are Still Machines" nel 2017.

I'm not your Slender Man
I live in a broken day
I'm not your Slender Man

I eat like a dervish
I drink like a dervish
I think like a dervish
And I live like a dervish
Like a dervish

Ho arrangiato il brano in due versioni. La seconda si chiama "Waving". Ondeggia. Come i veri dervisci, ovviamente. :-))
