Back in August 2011 I was chatting in a facebook group, when in general conversation I got talking to Tom Ghent. Tom brought up the subject of whiskey and mentioned he'd written a song called ''Whiskey, Whiskey'' and suggested maybe would I sing it. I said I didn't like whiskey. I said maybe I could write a song called ''Vodka, Vodka'' , that's because I thought he was joking, and he laughed. The following morning I received a private message from Tom saying he was serious and it wasn't a joke and would I sing his song. He mentioned who all had srecorded the song. When I heard that Kris Kirstoferson, Rita Coolidge, Gene Watson and Mama Cass had recorded it already I couldn't refuse an offer like that.
I agreed to record it and recorded it last winter along with some other songs, including a few for my forthcoming album. I was so proud and humbled to be asked to sing the song and so proud of the finished recording, with an Irish flavour added to it – with Ulean pipes and fiddle (being from the North of Ireland I had to add my own stamp to the song). Tom just loved the track immediately when he heard it and realised I'd put my whole heart and soul into singing it.
I was sworn to secrecy, to keep it quiet about me recording the song until it was ready to be released. That was over a year ago and now I'm so glad and relieved to get this wonderful secret out in the open and share it with you all.
