Bio

Far From Folk is born of the musicality of its founding members, Brian Rossiter and Sam Mattern.

Sam first met Brian through his then coworker Dave Dozer. Dave approached Sam about playing lead guitar for a band he had formed with Brians brother Wayne. The band, Able Kain was an alt-rock originals band that enjoyed mild success before disbanding in 2004 when Wayne moved to New Jersey to pursue his doctorate.
Life took Brian and Sam on different paths until 2009. Brian had just moved back from Nashville where he was pursuing his Masters and Sam was playing in a cover band in need of a drummer. Sam convinced Brian to join the band, and Thats What She Said was officially born. Thats What She Said played a number of shows from 2009 through 2011.

In May of 2011, Brian and Sam decided to move to the originals arena, and started working on originals they both had written independently under the guise Far From Folk. Building off of their percussion backgrounds, Far From Folk brings complex, yet easily digestible rhythms to their music.
