Bio

Shar was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. Shar first got interested in music at the age of 6 years old. She was inspired by The Beatles, Hubert Sumlin, Howlin Wolf and many other Great Musicians and Blues Artist. Shar and her Sister Marilyn, sung around South Bend for about 15 years. She also had a Band at the age of 16 years old called "The Soul Sensations." Shar started playing guitar at the age of 11 Years old. Shar's Dad was a gospel singer back in the late 50's and early 60's. His group opened for Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers, The Alabama Blind Boys, The Dixie Humming Birds etc. Shar's Aunt Rosie dated Little Walter back in the early 50's. She lived in Chicago for over 50 years. Aunt Rosie worked as a cocktail waitress at the "Club Zanzibar where Muddy Waters and Little Walter would perform with Muddy's Band. Shar moved from South Bend Indiana to Pensacola in the early 90's. She was in a bank called "The Big Fat Lie." She was there for 5 years playing at the Dock on the Beach, The Board Walk and also The Seville Quarters (Rosies.) Shar was also in the 2006 Blues Challenge for the North Michigan (Traverse City) Solo/Duo competition for the Memphis Blues Challenge. Shar also opened for Denise LaSalle at the Nashville Centennial Blues in 2006, The Late Great Willie King's Freedom Creek Fest for the last 5 years, Eutaw Black Belt Festival for the last 5 years, Sloss Furnace, to name a few. Shar has been featured in the December/January 2006 Big City Blues Magazine. She also apears in the Rythm Blues Magazine out the UK, Blues Matter Magzine (UK) Jukeblues(UK) and the June/July Living Blues Magazine for a review of her lates CD "SharBaby's 11 O'Clock Blues." Shar has been on the same bill with The Late Great Willie King, The Legendary Sam Lay(Howlin Wolf's Drummer,) Denise LaSalle, Lightning Malcom & Cedric Burnside, The Late Great Honey Boy Edwards, T-model Ford, Jerry Portnoy, Paul Oschar, Kenny Neal, Oteal Burris, (The bass player for the Allman Brothers) to name a few. Shar has performed in Malaga, Spain at the Coin Blues Festival on April 11, 2009, She did a 14 show tour in the Bristol England, UK in May of 2010. Shar is hoping to go back to the UK in 2012 to do an Album with Mr. Steve Payne, a Great Artist in his own right. Shar also works with the Alabama Blues Project teaching beginner's guitar to the camp students. Shar had number 1 song (cover tune) called "Crazy About A Mercury" on Cashbox in May of 2010. Shar is currently starting to work on new CD with Steve Payne.
