"Monica is inspired by such legends as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Cleo Laine, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Lena Horne and Carmen MacRae but makes the music she sings very much her own. Her voice is distinct and unforgettable."

Over the past year, she has been working with iconic music producer/pianist Bill King who produced her debut jazz album 'But Beautiful', now released on iTunes,CD Baby and other major digital outlets. Bill put together the finest renowned musicians in Canada on this album featuring Bill King-piano, William Sperandei-trumpet, Anne Lindsay-violin, Reg Schwager-guitar and Luis Jorge Papiosco-percussion, with Duncan Hopkins-bass and Mark Kelso-drums,recorded at 'Inception Sound Studios', engineered by the brilliant Michael Haas.

About Monica Chapman:

Monica was born in Romania and came to Canada with her famly at the age of nine, at which time she began to study piano. She attained her degree in Piano Performance and Voice at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from York University.

Her early interest in musical theatre led to a role with the Toronto Operetta Theatre Company in their production of 'The Widow' in 2004, performed at the St. Lawrence Center in Toronto, under the direction of Bill Silva. She also appeared in several musical variety productions at the Grand Theatre in Fergus, where she was cast in the lead role portraying Judy Garland in the musical 'Tribute', produced and directed by Alan Argue. As well, she appeared in variety shows across Canada.

In 2004 she recorded her debut solo CD titled "Sincerely", featuring Broadway show tunes.

....From Classical Music to Musical Theatre....

Monica has evolved into a jazz performer over the past six years and she appears in veneus throughout Canada.

In 2009 she recorded a 4-track EP titled 'Heart's Desire', inspired by one of the songs recorded on this CD written by Allan Broadbent, who heard her interpretation of this song personally and was very impressed by it. Her rendition of 'Autumn Leaves', put her at number one on the Reverbnation Music Charts for Toronto, Canada and remained at the top spot for two years. She also appeared on the hit radio show 'Front Row Centre' hosted by Mark-Andrew Lawrence as well as Rogers Television, CTV News, and has been featured in numerous magazines, amongst them 'Miami Talent Magazine', Sop Radio Show 'The American Perspective' hosted by award-winning journalist Judyth Piazza, as well as 'The Student Press' with Chase Von, International Talent Magazine with Zack Brenneman, Talent Spotlight Magazine with Jessica Gilbert, and appreared on The Kerry Edleman Show. 'Heart's Desire' was heard on many radio stations worldwide including Canada, New York, UK,Austarlia and Italy.

As well, her music was featured on CBC Radio 1, The Bob Jackson Show "Bob & Fiona", UK, Venture Radio with Bob Birch,UK, Bondi Tunes,Ausralia, as well as radios in Italy, France, New Zealand, New York just to name a few.Her debut CD is already receiving rave revues in 'Cashbox Canada' reviewed by Sandy Graham, ' New Canadian Music reviewed by Kerry Doole , 'The Canadian Daily' by John Maloy and was interviewed on the hit radio show 'Front-Row Centre' by Mark-Andrew Lawrence, the SOP Radio show 'The American Perspective' with Judyth Piazza and appeared on 'The Kerry Edleman Show' and will be interviewed on 'Talent Spotlight Magazine' by Jessica Gilbert who also desigend her new webiste, www.monicachapman.net. 'But Beautiiul' made it to #1 on the Reverbnation Music Charts for Toronto,Canada and is quickly rising on the London,UK charts.
